Henry Cavanagh's original works of art will be presented at the Life, Style, & Fashion Auction. The auction takes place on October 28th, 2023 starting at 11:30 am EST.
Mr. Cavanagh was trained as a bronze sculptor and goldsmith. He worked as a caster of bronze sculptures in Dusseldorf, and displayed his works at the Smithsonian Institution's Renwick Gallery, among many other galleries.
This will be the first time Mr. Cavanagh's bronze works will be presented at the Life, Style, & Fashion Auction.
Henry's most recognizable works are from his "Ceramicar" collection. There had been only about 12 styles designed, and limited to an edition of 200 only. The process as explained in Henry's words:
"The work is cast by hand from molds of my original design. Each piece is stained (colored) and glazed by hand and fired in a kiln to about 1800 degrees overnight. It is then overglazed with brighter colors, metallic gold, and platinum, again by hand, with some added decals of my own design. The piece is fired several more times at over 1,200 degrees. Each step takes several days, each piece takes several hours, and each firing is a risk of total loss if not done right! And each signed piece is different in various ways from every other." - You understand the process of making this, and it is truly worthy of being put in this fine art auction.
The limited edition signed originals made in Henry's studio have sold in excess of $1,000 USD.
Cavanagh's works have been featured in over a dozen magazines. He has had commissions from the Culinary Institute of America and the Smithsonian Institution. His works were collected by such notables as Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon, Jim Henson, Rhea Perlman, Donna Summer, Soupy Sales, and Vanna White.
Life, Style, & Fashion is not just a Fine Art Auction, but will also feature newly discovered items from THE ETHEL TRAPHAGEN COLLECTION / THE TRAPHAGEN SCHOOL OF FASHION, FINE ART, FURNISHINGS, LIGHTING, and original works by ANN DEXTER-JONES.
